Bishop Flemming raise over £10,000
In 2023 hugs children’s cancer charity was chosen as the charity of the year at Plymouth based accountants, Bishop Fleming. The partnership would see a number of fundraising events taking part and accumulating in the support of its members at the charities Respite Home in Cornwall.
Bishop Fleming is an independent leading provider of audit, accountancy, tax, and advisory services in the UK. From owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and large businesses; to entrepreneurs and private individuals; Bishop Fleming has a wealth of knowledge and experience in areas such as internal and external audit, corporate and personal tax, corporate finance and deals and accounting services. With eight offices spanning from the West Midlands to the South West, the firm has 43 partners and nearly 500 staff.
The charity partnership with Bishop Fleming launched in August 2023 with The Plymouth National fireworks competition with the opening of the office for family and friends to attend. With the most perfect views of Mountbatten Pier it was a lovely opportunity for the founders of the charity to come and meet members of the team.
The Plymouth office has since organised bake sales, hamper raffles and individuals doing running events throughout the year. The biggest fundraiser of the year was the corporate quiz held at Plymouth Argyles Home park and saw teams take part in an interactive and fun quiz.
As part of Bishop Fleming’s Responsible Business initiatives, all employees can use a day of time to invest in local community activity of their choice – this has previously included working in a food bank, assisting on exhibition stands, planting trees, decorating, litter picking, participating in personal fundraising for charities, and taking part in client and third-party fundraising events. In March 2024, the team at Bishop Fleming took time out of their incredibly busy schedule to attend the Respite Home. Jobs included sorting out the brambles in the garden, power washing and maintenance of the garden gates and furniture. While a team took on the painting of the hallway and stairs of the property, the sorting of the children’s toys games and puzzles. The Home was ready for the next Hugs family to enjoy and for the Home to be fresh and ready for the busy year of bookings.
As the partnership ends and a new charity is chosen by the office, Hugs want to share their heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped raise £10,271 for the charity but also their kind support at the respite home. This has been an amazing year for all involved and has helped the charity support families in the area with various events, respite and grants.
Thank you, Bishop Fleming Plymouth!
