Delamore House Art Exhibition raises over £6000 for Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity
Art has the incredible power to inspire, connect, and create positive change in the world. It is often said that art has the ability to move hearts, but what happens when it also moves wallets? In a heartwarming display of philanthropy, Delamore House opened its doors in May 2024 for its yearly art exhibition and chose to support Hugs Childrens Cancer Charity, though a donation from ticket sales and a beautiful art raffle.
The art exhibition was held within the beautiful Delamore estate, adorned with vibrant paintings, sculptures, and mixed media installations. Artists from various backgrounds and disciplines came together to showcase their works, creating a diverse and captivating display of artistic expressions. The exhibition aimed to provide a platform for emerging artists while also supporting local charity, Hugs, who support families in the Southwest with childhood cancer.
The generous donation of the painting ‘Sunset and Clouds’ by artist Phil Creek, was a poignant piece to remember the turbulent journey a childhood cancer diagnosis can have on a family, while also raising vital funds for the charity.
The exhibition garnered tremendous support from the local community and beyond. Art enthusiasts, collectors, and philanthropists eagerly attended the event which is held every May, eager to discover unique artworks. The success of the exhibition was not only measured by the funds raised but also by the awareness it generated for the charitable cause and the lasting impact it would have on the lives of the children and their families who are living with a childhood cancer diagnosis.
The art exhibition’s donation-based approach and support for Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity showcased the marriage of creativity and philanthropy, reminding us all of the power art possesses to bring people together for a greater cause. This heartwarming example serves as an inspiration for future events, highlighting the potential for art to create positive change and leave a lasting impact. The incredibly generous patrons of Delamore and its staff raised over £6000 which will help the charity with its missions of respite, peer to peer support and group and family away days and events.
In a world that often seems divided, the Delamore art exhibition serves as a reminder that art can unite us in generosity and compassion. Charity founder, Elsbeth Hallam says the following:
“We are so very grateful for the generosity and opportunity Delamore have given Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity this year. The donation will have a big impact on our charity and how we can help those living the nightmare of a childhood cancer diagnosis. No child should be diagnosed with cancer, but also we firmly believe no family should tread this journey alone and as a charity we are there every step they need us”
Thank you, Delamore!
